Andrew Z. Haddad is a Research Scientist in the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory where he collaborates closely with the Kostecki and Prasher groups. His research interests include the water-energy nexus, energy efficient desalination using thermally responsive materials and solar energy, and valuable ion mining from water using electrochemical based technologies. Previously, Andrew was an ITRI Rosenfeld Postdoctoral Fellow in the Gadgil group where he synthesized high porosity materials for energy efficient and highly effective fluoride removal from water. Most recently, he was a postdocoral fellow in the Group of Robert Kostecki. Andrew recieved his PhD in inorganic chemistry from the University of Louisville in 2017 where he focused synthesized new catalysts for electrochemical hydrogen oxidation/production and carbon dioxide reduction, in addtion to evaluating their reaction mechanisms using computational, electrochemical, and spectroscopic techniques.
